U.S. presidents and their families have typically liked animals. Creatures from mice to bears have made a home at the White House and its grounds. George Washington was the first president of United States of America from April 30, 1789 – March 4, 1797. He had the following pets

• Drunkard, Taster, Tipler and Tipsy - Black and Tan Coonhounds
• Royal Gift - Donkey
• Nelson - Horse
• Polly the Parrot
